I meet the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) requirements as a Clinical Supervisor, so I can assist you in meeting your clinical supervision hours requirements. I value conversation and open exploration of concepts that fit for you and your client! I am passionate about looking deeply into the "use of self" as a tool in therapy." - Paitra Surerus-Marsh, RP

"Therapists may look for external supervision for many different reasons. You may want to discuss a current case, seek support in an empathic safe space, develop a new perspective, increase self awareness, encourage your professional therapist role development, or even reduce the professional isolation often found in our field. If you are looking to challenge your own growth as a therapist and are open to person-centered and emotion focused approaches, I would be happy to meet with you. I have a personal interest in working with: cancer diagnosis and caregiver burnout, immigration experiences, relationships, and trauma. I do not offer CBT based approaches or work with OCD and anxiety." - Kornelia Hawrylewicz, RP

Hi there!

Thank you for taking that first step to finding support – I know from experience it isn’t always easy!

To get to know me a bit, I am a Registered Social Worker with the OCSWSSW and supporting people through life’s ups and downs is my passion. I received my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Renison University College attached to UWaterloo, and I also have my Masters of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Toronto. I specialize in working with children and families, emphasizing the importance of child development, as well as family system interventions. Coming from a clinical background of working with families in the foster care system and government-funded programs, I know that families can look like everything and anything!

I utilize aspects from a series of therapeutic modalities and theories including Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Attachment Theory among others; but my main focus is you and your needs. I believe therapy shouldn’t use a cookie-cutter approach – one size definitely does not fit all when it comes to your emotional and mental well-being. We are all so different and we all need a listening ear sometimes, and a little extra support other times.

I am the kind of social worker that wants to work with you to develop emotional regulation skills, coping strategies, and stress-management methods that you can keep in your back pocket. My goal is to help you feel capable of pushing through personal challenges years down the line. As the old proverb goes, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime – that is the same mentality I use when working with any of my clients. I offer my clinical support coming from Trauma-Informed, Strenghts-Based, and Anti-Oppressive approaches – for the young to young at heart, we all could benefit from someone to talk to! All are welcome and safe to be who they are here at Piece of Mind Counselling, and I’ll be right there with you along this journey you’re about to take.

I specialize in creating a warm and collaborative space for clients to share their thoughts and feelings. My goal is to support you in finding a path to a more authentic and fulfilling life, gently navigating the impact of your past without letting it define who you are or dictate your future. Drawing from my own experiences navigating poor mental health, I bring a unique understanding and empathy to my work as an Emotion-focused therapist. I’ve learned firsthand the profound impact unresolved emotions can have on well-being and relationships, which fuels my compassion and drive to help others find healing and growth.

My therapeutic approach encompasses crisis intervention, grief, self-esteem, attachment and relationship intricacies, life transitions and stress. To meet your unique needs, I draw strategies from different approaches like Emotion-focused therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) with an emphasis on mindfulness and self-exploration. I truly believe that each person carries the strength to navigate through tough emotions and experiences. As we cultivate these skills, we unlock a connection to the resources within and around us.

Presently, I hold the designation of Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO and is in the process of completing her Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy at Yorkville University. I obtained my Honours Bachelor of Applied Science in Psychology from Guelph-Humber, further augmenting my expertise in the field.

Hi! I’m so glad you’re here! Reaching out for support is such a wonderful step in ensuring your wellness. Navigating our emotional health can be hard. Thank you for trusting me with yours.

During our work together, we will explore how we are shaped by our early experiences and how our emotions guide us to better understand ourselves. We won’t be learning quick strategies to coping, conflict resolution or emotion management, but instead we will slow down and work to uncover the underlying patterns that drive our perceptions of the world, our relationships with others, and our relationship with ourselves. I believe that our emotions, moods, and bodies hold valuable information about who we are and I hope to create a space where you can dig a little deeper to gain a better understanding of yourself and your relationships.

I have specialized skills supporting those living with PTSD as well as survivors of acute and complex trauma (C-PTSD). I utilize somatic (body) therapy methods (such as EMDR) in addition to talk therapy to teach the body how to regulate itself from trauma and experience more authentic connection.

I believe that my most important therapy tool is the relationship between myself and my clients. It is through the safety of this relationship that all else can be explored.

In-person sessions are recommended for the deeper processing that takes place during our sessions, however video appointments are available for those who require this. I do not offer phone appointments at this time.

Welcome! Let me start out by telling you what I tell all my potential clients: Therapy is such an individual process and so much of it has to do with finding the right therapist. Many of us have similar training and areas of expertise but we all differ in personality. I want to use this space here to give you an idea of my vibe and approach. I’m a little quirky with a gentle approach and strong ability to challenge you and explore with you. I can sit with you in heavy spaces, difficult feelings, and complex thoughts.

Over the years I have grown into my own personal style which draws from different modalities that bring focus to our emotions, experiences, and our thinking patterns. I also pull a lot from lived experience – especially, when working with my clients who are struggling with grief, cancer diagnosis, and supporting loved ones through difficult transitions. Some of my other areas of passion include working through relationship difficulties and simply just figuring out how to be in this world we call our home.

Here is a bit more of the technical information about me, in case you are into that sort of thing: I work from a trauma-informed, client-centered approach and enjoy supporting individuals struggling with their interpersonal relationships, workplace/school adjustment and concerns, personal growth and feeling “stuck”, low self-esteem, major life events and changes, conflict resolution, bereavement, and grief, as well as divorce/separation. I have a particular interest in working with clients who struggle with immigration and their sense of belonging as well as patient and family support for cancer diagnosis. I received my MA in Mental Health Counselling in 2012 and am a Registered Psychotherapist.

Life gives us different challenges to overcome, and no one should have to go through these experiences alone. You deserve to be heard and I am here to support you.

As someone who has attended therapy, I recognize the various emotions you may be feeling as you consider attending therapy. I believe making this courageous decision is an act of self-love. I acknowledge the level of vulnerability you are bringing into the room, and I am committed to holding a safe space for you.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO, and I am in the process of obtaining my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology Degree. I have obtained my Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and my Advanced Diploma in Child and Youth Care.

My approach to counselling is client-centred, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, culturally sensitive, and strengths-based. During our sessions, I will draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities such as Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). While people may go through similar challenges in life, each person deals with these difficulties in their own way. Healing will look different for everyone, and my therapeutic approach will be tailored to best suit your needs.

I have primarily worked with survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual violence. Through working with these populations, I gained experience supporting people facing challenges with emotional regulation, substance use, depression, generalized and social anxiety, borderline personality disorder, and suicidal ideation. Working with survivors furthered my understanding of what it means to work from a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive approach.

I have supported people of varying ages, gender identities, sexualities, and cultural backgrounds. I am interested in helping people experiencing challenges with self-esteem, anxiety, depression, relational trauma, and general life stressors/transitions.

I aim to empower you to make meaningful changes to your life. I invite you to show up as your authentic self as we navigate your healing journey together.

Beginning a therapeutic journey can sometimes feel unsettling. As a former client myself, I understand this can be a difficult step to take. I’m hoping that what I am about to share can make this process a little bit easier for you. First of all, welcome! Taking this initial step in seeking therapy is one of the hardest parts, but here you are! You are not alone in this journey. Therapy is a collaborative approach where we will work together to support your individual goals.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with CRPO. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Honours Psychology Degree from York University and my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology Degree from Yorkville University.

During our sessions together, I will help you understand your emotions and how they are experienced. The complexity of our emotions often creates feelings of dysregulation if we are unaware of how they present themselves. Emotions play a major role in how we perceive our life experiences, and also ourselves. We can explore this together to build more awareness of what is happening between the mind and body as they are connected.

As a bi-racial individual, I understand some of the challenges that multi-race populations experience due to the pressures, assumptions and biases that are often presented within society, creating confusion and discomfort surrounding your identity. I can provide a safe space to discuss such concerns.

I have experience supporting both adolescent and adult populations struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, general life stressors, academic issues, self-harm and suicidal ideation. I have also supported individuals struggling with interpersonal relationships such as difficulty with friendships and family.

I utilize a person-centered approach, in addition to integrating various modalities to support individual needs, as one size does not fit all. Modalities include integrated components from Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy. I have completed additional EFT training: Emotion-Focused Therapy Institute-Level One Training from York University.

I offer a warm and comforting approach, as I strive to create and maintain a safe space for clients to share their most vulnerable moments.

Megan offers both in-person and telehealth services (phone and/or video).

My intention for this space is to give you a little insight into who I am as a person and my approach to therapy.

Much of the work we do in therapy is centred around the connection and relationship built between two people. I think it’s important for you to understand who I am. In a nutshell, I am passionate about empowering others to transform their lives in a meaningful way. To begin to untangle the emotions and experiences of life and to find a way back to yourself or to discover who you really are after all. Much of this passion comes from my own personal journey of resiliency and self-discovery. I am authentic and genuine and have a large capacity to be with people in hard, complex spaces. I will support you and challenge you when needed. I also believe it’s equally important to not take myself so seriously, to bring in balance by acknowledging strengths, finding joy and weaving humour into the therapeutic process.

The primary goal is for you to feel safe, supported, and heard. Therapy is an opportunity to unpack our stories in connection with another human. This process can unearth moments of clarity, realization and a deep understanding of ourselves. A curiosity around why we think, feel and behave the way we do can lead to insight, awareness and positive change.

I practice from a trauma-informed, person-centred approach, and pull in an eclectic blend of various modalities along the way, where it naturally fits in. My own experiences in life have provided me with a solid foundation of empathy and understanding, and I often lean on these experiences in working with: childhood trauma, complex family dynamics, attachment issues, anxiety, ADHD, eating disorders, addiction, grief and loss, and the emotional rollercoaster that comes with raising a family. I have a passion for supporting those who have experienced abuse or are victims of violence and the work that goes into building self-confidence and self-worth.

I’m a registered psychotherapist and member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I hold a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario. I have specialized training in supporting those who have experienced trauma, eating disorders and am an ADHD Clinical Services Provider.

I believe that everyone deserves to live a happy and meaningful life. Seeking out support can be difficult, and so I appreciate the courage and vulnerability of clients when it comes to doing so. I am passionate about fostering a positive therapeutic relationship and collaboratively working with clients to help them meet their therapeutic goals. I offer support in an environment that is safe, non-judgmental, accepting, and empathetic, which can nurture clients’ independence, trust, growth, and healing. I utilize a holistic, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and person-centred approach which is integrated with modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Strength-Based Therapy. With this approach to therapy, I support clients as they learn to develop healthy relationships and effective coping skills that can help them live a more meaningful life. We all go through many unique experiences that shape who we are, and so I value the uniqueness of each client and believe that therapy is not a “one size fits all.” I strive to tailor treatment to each client’s experiences, needs, and goals, adapting and adjusting as needed.

I have a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology Degree from Yorkville University. I am also a Certified Music Therapist (MTA), earning my Honours Bachelor of Music Therapy Degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. Utilizing music therapy interventions is something that can be incorporated into our sessions if you enjoy music and are open to it!

I have primarily worked with adults and seniors experiencing a wide range of concerns in long-term care homes, adult day programs, and community centres. During my time working with this population, I have provided support to individuals and groups with acquired brain injuries, Alzheimer’s/dementia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, and speech impairment. Hello Hello!

Are you ready to start an emotional journey, a journey to learn yourself on a deeper level? I believe that you hold the inner emotional wisdom and through our journey we will listen and understand your emotional self. Life can be so hard sometimes. Navigating the emotions that arise from the complexities of life can feel daunting and confusing at times.

Who am I? I am a therapist who is passionate about working with clients and their emotional experiences. Our emotional systems are often difficult to understand, the discomfort we experience or the feelings that arise can become hard to manage. We tend to then feel overwhelmed and dysregulated, which may present as pervasive discomfort such as symptoms of depression and anxiety. Many of us were not taught about emotions so we do the best we can in any given moment. However, what may have worked for us in the past we find no longer works in the present and then we feel stuck.

In our work together, we will explore your experiences and your inner world. This involves understanding emotional patterns and how they form from our early life experiences and throughout our life. By understanding our longstanding patterns we together can transform your emotional experience. Together we will learn what is happening inside of your mind and body, allowing you to reconnect with yourself. We will explore self-criticism, challenge stuck feelings and look into understanding the impacts of trauma. Working in this way requires an openness to experiencing your inner world, and a motivation to approach and transform your emotion patterns.

I have a background of supporting those recovering from trauma/ PTSD/C-PTSD, addiction, infertility, perinatal/ postnatal, really any adversities, difficulties, trauma or disturbing life events. My own life experiences and the continued emotionally processing from them are some of the best training I could have ever received.

I utilize a collection of Emotional-Focused Therapy (EFT), Trauma informed, Somatic (body) work, Self-Compassion, Mindfulness-Based, Narrative Therapy, IFS and Attachment Theory approaches to cultivate a space where you can enter your life story to explore present and past areas of pain that contribute to current emotional difficulties, undesired thoughts, behaviours or relational struggles.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), I hold an MA in psychology. I have extensive trainings in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) For individuals- Level 1 & 2, EFT for Complex Trauma, EFST (Emotion Focussed Skills Training) for Parents, EFT for Couples and EFIT- Level 1) and trauma informed practices. I have worked with individuals, couples and families for over 15 years  in a number of clinical settings such as brain injury rehabilitation clinics, hospitals, mental health institutions, inpatient addiction,  inpatient concurrent disorders, addiction treatment centers, and group homes.

I offer in-person and telehealth services (both telephone and secure video).

I also offer supervision to therapists!
